Building Australia’s Newest NeoBank
Yet to be released due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Product design work confidential until release.
Opportunity
Australia’s challenger banks are a new breed of companies driven to give better value back to the customer. Market opportunity exists to provide fee-free, fair and honest financial products. This company was founded out of a drive to do better in banking and give the customer excellent digital experiences.
My Role
Product Design Lead working closely with product owners, the technical and development teams and all stakeholders including C-suite and board members. End-to-end product development including research, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, UI design, QA, customer testing.
Outcome
Designed, developed and built a digital bank from the ground up rapidly, with a small team. Majority of work completed in a 12 month period with a team of under 30 people. Rapid creation of a strong NeoBank brand, two market-ready products and required governing license – unfortunately launch has been delayed due to Covid-19.
Research
- User research
- Competitor analysis
- Persona creation
The two product offerings had distinct markets so two customer groups were investigated. Three personas were generated for the brand which these illuminated distinct goals, needs, frustrations and motivations. Shared themes across all personas included frustration and a general lack of trust in the ‘big banks’, a need for personalised and simple banking and a motivation to be more financially astute. Competitive analysis uncovered industry trends and potential gaps in customer experience, care and transparency.
